We usually encourage parents and guardians to take part in parent skills training. Some are surprised when we focus on teaching them skills—rather than working directly with their young person.
There are many good reasons to take part in parent skills training. But for the young people who attend our service, it’s especially important. They often face distinct challenges that require a different approach. Traditional parenting strategies may not be as effective, and supporting these young people often calls for caregivers to stay curious, flexible, and open to learning new methods.
Parent skills training programs offer practical tools to nurture emotional development, reduce conflict, and strengthen relationships—making a real difference for the whole family.
