Rachel is a Paediatrician with 20 years’ experience, graduating from Cardiff University, UK in 2005. On completion of paediatric training, Rachel undertook subspecialty training in Paediatric Palliative care at Great Ormond Street Hospital, London and qualified as a dual trained consultant in Paediatrics, and Paediatric Palliative Medicine in2018.
With a passion and drive initially for cancer pain management, she then moved to Sydney, where she undertook further specialty training and fellowship at the Michael J. Cousins Pain Management and Research Centre, Royal North Shore Hospital as well as Westmead Children’s Hospital Paediatric Pain Service. She was awarded Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetics Faculty of Pain Medicine in 2021, and as such is an accredited Specialist Pain Medicine Physician.
Rachel has worked as a Consultant in Paediatric Pain Medicine (acute as well as chronic complex) and Palliative Care at Perth Children’s Hospital since 2022.
Rachel’s approach to pain management is holistic. Working both in palliative care and pain medicine, she understands how pain can have a devastating impact on a young person, their sense of self, their function and those who love them. Through understanding your individual experience of pain and its impact, she will work with you to understand the cause for your pain and formulate a comprehensive, bespoke management plan that will support and guide you to take control of your pain, and restore your function in a meaningful and lasting way.
